Fallout shelter similar games2/21/2024 ![]() ![]() Also made by Bethesda, the Elder Scrolls series is like a fantasy medieval-esque take on the Fallout open-world formula, and it has a lot of similar combat and RPG elements that will make you feel right at home. The obvious go-to choice if you’re after something similar to the Fallout experience is undoubtedly Skyrim. Go play it.Platform(s): PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch That big problem aside, the first week or so with Fallout Shelter is one of the best incarnations of this type of game I've played in a while, and it's worth a moment of your time. Likewise, they need some high-level rooms, dwellers or abilities that take a whole lot more time to earn: I was able to get the best room in the game after about a week and a half. Some sort of competitive mode is the most reliable strategy: it doesn't need to be Clash of Clans, but giving players the ability to muster a force with which to invade other people or AI's vault gives a lot of bang for your buck, longevity wise. But they should look to their competition with how to pad this one out (or improve upon a sequel). It makes sense why things fall apart here: Bethesda made this thing as a sort of a lark, and they don't have a lot of experience with this type of game. I've entertained myself by getting some dwellers to max stats and seeing how long they can make it in the wasteland, but a little bit of guidance from the game on how I should be spending the increasingly tiny amount of time I'm playing the game. ![]() I'll agree with Tassi on one important point: Fallout Shelter needs an endgame, badly. When I covered food, agriculture and video games for AOL News, I joked that I was the world's leading expert on Farmville. I've always loved Farmville-style games, simplistic though they may be. This game will be best for people that like the idea of having a little world in their pocket that they can pull out every couple of hours or so, even if all sorts of Fallout fans will likely download it. There's something about that particular version of the power fantasy I find pleasing: in Starcraft, I would always opt for building out savage defenses rather than rushing. I'm a base builder at heart: even in a game like Skyrim, I got the most excited about the expansion that allowed me to build my own home. ![]()
